Add an AI-powered chatbot to your PrestaShop store in just a few clicks. No technical knowledge required!
1. Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Admin access to your PrestaShop store (version 1.7 or 8.x)
- A few minutes of your time
2. Downloading the Plugin
- Go to the AI SmartTalk platform at aismarttalk.tech
- Navigate to Integration in the main menu
- Find the PrestaShop section
- Click the Download button to save the module ZIP file to your computer
3. Installing on PrestaShop
- Log in to your PrestaShop admin dashboard
- Go to Modules > Module Manager
- Click the Upload a module button at the top
- Select the AI SmartTalk ZIP file you downloaded
- Click Upload this module
- Once uploaded, the module will install automatically
4. Connecting to AI SmartTalk
This is where the magic happens! The module uses a secure connection to link your store to AI SmartTalk.
- After installation, go to the AI SmartTalk module settings (click Configure)
- Click the Connect with AI SmartTalk button
If you already have an account
Simply log in with your email and password. You'll be redirected back to PrestaShop automatically.
If you're new to AI SmartTalk
Click Create an account or sign up here. Fill in your details and you'll be redirected back to PrestaShop automatically.
5. Selecting Your AI Assistant
Once connected, you need to choose which AI assistant will power your store's chatbot.
Use an existing assistant
If you already have assistants configured in AI SmartTalk:
- Select the assistant you want from the dropdown list
- Click Save
Create a new assistant
If you don't have an assistant yet or want to create a new one:
- Click the Create button
- A window will open with available templates
- Choose a template that fits your needs (e.g., "E-commerce", "Customer Support")
- Your new assistant is created and automatically selected
- Click Save
6. Syncing Your Store Data
Now let's feed your chatbot with your product catalog so it can help customers find what they're looking for.
- Go to the Synchronize tab in the module settings
- Click Synchronize Store Data
- Wait while your products, categories, and store information are sent to your AI assistant
- You'll see a success message when complete
Your products will appear in the Knowledge section of your AI SmartTalk dashboard.
7. Customizing Your Chatbot (Optional)
Make the chatbot match your store's look and feel:
- Go to the Appearance tab
- Customize:
- Position: Where the chat bubble appears
- Colors: Match your store's theme
- Welcome message: Greet your customers
- Click Save
8. That's It!
Your chatbot is now live! Visit your store to see it in action:
- Go to your PrestaShop store's homepage
- Look for the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner
- Click to open the chat window
- Try asking about a product
Troubleshooting
The module won't install
- Make sure your PrestaShop version is 1.7 or 8.x
- Check that you have enough server memory
- Try disabling other modules temporarily if there are conflicts
The chatbot doesn't appear on my site
- Check that you've connected to AI SmartTalk in the module settings
- Make sure an assistant is selected
- Clear your browser cache and reload the page
- Clear PrestaShop cache in Advanced Parameters > Performance
Product information is incorrect or missing
- Run the synchronization again
- Make sure your products have complete descriptions
- Wait a few minutes for large catalogs
Connection issues
- Make sure your server allows outbound HTTPS connections
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting
- Contact support if the issue persists
