Troubleshooting

Common issues and solutions for the AI SmartTalk Shopify app.


Installation

The app won't install

  • Check your Shopify plan: Ensure your Shopify plan supports third-party apps
  • Check permissions: You need admin access to install apps on your Shopify store
  • Try a different browser: Some browser extensions can interfere with the Shopify App Store installation flow

The app installed but doesn't appear

  • Refresh your Shopify admin page
  • Go to Apps in your Shopify admin sidebar — AI SmartTalk should be listed there
  • Try logging out and back in to your Shopify admin

Connection

The "Connect with AI SmartTalk" button doesn't work

  • Check outbound HTTPS: Your browser must allow connections to aismarttalk.tech
  • Check pop-up blockers: The OAuth flow may open in a new window — ensure your browser isn't blocking it
  • Disable browser extensions: Ad blockers or privacy extensions may interfere with the OAuth flow

Connection redirects but nothing happens

  • The OAuth token is valid for 10 minutes. If you waited too long, try disconnecting and reconnecting
  • Clear your browser cookies and try again

Multi-site: a store shows as "Disconnected"

  • Each store needs its own OAuth connection. Go to the affected Shopify store and open the AI SmartTalk app to reconnect
  • Ensure each store has a distinct Shopify domain

Chatbot

The chatbot doesn't appear on my store

  • Check app status: Make sure the AI SmartTalk app is installed and connected (green status badge)
  • Check assistant selection: Ensure an AI assistant is selected and saved
  • Check app embeds: In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store > Themes > Customize > App embeds and make sure AI SmartTalk is enabled
  • Clear caches: Clear your browser cache or try in an incognito window

The chatbot appears but doesn't respond

  • Verify your AI SmartTalk subscription is active
  • Check that the selected assistant is properly configured in your AI SmartTalk dashboard
  • Check your browser's developer console for JavaScript errors

Synchronization

Product sync doesn't start or fails

  • Check your internet connection is stable
  • Verify the app is properly connected (green status badge on the dashboard)
  • Try disconnecting and reconnecting the app

Only some products are synced

  • Check if your products are published and active in Shopify
  • Draft or archived products may not be included in the sync
  • Large catalogs may take several minutes to fully sync

Sync seems stuck

  • Large product catalogs are synced in batches — this may take a few minutes
  • Check the sync activity log on the AI SmartTalk dashboard for progress updates
  • If it remains stuck, try triggering a new sync

Performance

The app slows down my store

  • The AI SmartTalk chatbot loads asynchronously and should not impact your store's page load speed
  • If you experience issues, check for conflicts with other apps
  • Ensure your Shopify theme is up to date

The chatbot widget loads slowly

  • Check your internet connection speed
  • The widget is optimized for performance but may take slightly longer on very slow connections
  • Ensure no browser extensions are blocking the widget script
